1.6L Vaccinated With No Case Of Post-Vaccination Hospitalisation On Day 1: Govt

Mumbai: The Health Ministry on Saturday said that a total of 1,65,714 beneficiaries were vaccinated across India on the first day of the coronavirus vaccination drive. “COVID-19 vaccination drive was successful on Day 1.

The Union Health Ministry noted that no cases of post-vaccination hospitalization had been reported so far.

A total of 3,351 sessions were held nationwide with both vaccines. The Ministry of Health stated that Covishield produced by Serum Institute of India was supplied to all the States/UTs, whereas Bharat Biotech’s COVAXIN was supplied to 12 states.

“Since it was the first day of vaccination, some issues arose – delays in uploading beneficiary lists at some session sites and vaccinated workers not scheduled for today’s sessions; Resolutions provided for both the issues,” the ministry stated.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the world’s largest vaccination drive against the pandemic. The Centre stated that the shots will be offered first to an estimated one crore healthcare workers and around two crore frontline workers, and then to persons above 50 years of age, followed by persons younger than 50 years of age with associated comorbidities.
