10 Flights Cancelled At Chennai Airport Amid Rains, Winds Due To Cyclone Asani

Mumbai: At least 10 flights have been cancelled at Chennai Airport amid heavy rains and gusty winds due to Cyclone Asani. Chennai Airport Authority confirmed flights to Chennai from Hyderabad, Mumbai, Visakhapatnam and Jaipur have been cancelled.

The airport authority further said that the passengers who were to travel in those flights have been informed about this a day in advance.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its recent update said that the severe cyclonic storm was centred 300 km south-east of Kakinada and 330 km south-southeast of Visakhapatnam at 5.30 am on Tuesday.

The IMD has also mentioned in its daily bulletin that the severe cyclonic storm is very likely to gradually weaken into a cyclonic storm in the next 24 hours.

After the scorching sun, the people of Chennai have got relief from the heavy rain on Tuesday morning.

According to the IMD bulletin, the cyclone will reach the Odisha coast by end of this week and till then thunderstorm with light showers is likely to occur with the maximum temperature in the city being around 35 degrees celsius.
