10% Quota For Economically Weaker Section Passed By Parliament

Mumbai : After a long debate finally Rajya Sabha approved 10 per cent reservation for economically weaker sections in the general category.

Meanwhile, opposition has been raising objection towards the bill. But the ruling party has always asked to support the bill through various speeches out there. Finally, with 165 yes, and seven against the bill has cleared the Parliament test.

Celebrating the passing of the 10 per cent quota bill in Rajya Sabha, BJP President Amit Shah said that the country believes in honest intentions.

The reservation is meant for individuals belonging to economically weaker section whose annual income is less than 8 lakh annually and who have land less than 5 acres.

The total reservation is increased by 10 per cent, will go upto 60 per cent surprising 50 per cent. It will be also applicable for both central and state government job as well says Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.
