10-Yr-Old Mistakenly Hangs Self While Enacting Bhagat Singh’s Execution In UP

UP: A 10-year-old boy died while allegedly enacting the hanging of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh during rehearsal for an Independence Day play in UP’s Budaun, police said.

An official said the family cremated the body without informing the police soon after the incident on Thursday.

Bhure Singh’s son Shivam, a resident of the village of Kunwargaon police station area of ​​the district, was rehearsing the play along with other children.

Locals said that while recreating the execution of Bhagat Singh, Shivam tied a noose around his neck, but the stool on which he was standing slipped, causing him to hang.

He said that other children panicked and shouted for help after which some local residents reached there and brought Shivam down by cutting the noose but by then he had died.

SSP Badaun Sankalp Sharma said that on Friday a team was sent to the village under the leadership of the SHO of Kunwargaon police station, but the family members refused to give any information about how the boy died.

We are investigating the matter, he added.
