100 Indian Fishermen From Gujarat Released By Pakistan

Mumbai: On 8th April, around 100 of fisherman were released which were detained by Pakistan, a year before.
These fishermen were kept in Karachi jail for one and a half year and were brought via Wagah border.

They are from Gujarat’s Veraval region and were caught by Pakistan’s guard for illegally crossing the International borders.

One of the fishermen told ANI, news agency, “Many of us accidentally cross borders without knowing about Pakistan border and many of them went so that to get more fishes. We were kept in a limited area and were never allowed to venture out. We were told be in that limited area so that for our safety.”

“I was arrested while I was sleeping in the boat as the boat has accidentally crossed the border”, another fisherman Vikram.

Assistant director of fisheries department, Ramesh Kumar said, “They were freed from Pakistan. Our team went to Amritsar to receive them and brought via train.”

The state fisheries department brought the fisherman through train in Vadodara from Amritsar.

Pakistan on 5th April had declared to release 360 Indian prisoners on completing their sentences, starting 8th April.

The decision came after India sent a note on Tuesday to Pakistan requesting to make require arrangements for a quick release and admit back to the country of all the Indian prisoners who have completed their particular sentences.
