Mumbai: A 13-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 21-year-old labourer in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area in the Pune district. Based on the minor’s mother’s complaint, the police arrested the accused man.
According to the police, the arrested man sexually assaulted the minor in the house when she was alone as both her parents had gone to work as labourers. When she narrated the ordeal to her parents, the crime was reported to the police and the accused was arrested. He has been booked under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
“We produced him [the accused] in the court on Sunday. He is a labourer and also the parent of the girl. They were at work when they found her alone in the house,” a report published by Hindustan Times quoted a police officer as saying.
The HT report further stated the minor told the cops that the accused had been assaulting and threatening her since December last year. But she narrated her ordeal before her parents in January this year.
