16-Year-Old Girl Kidnapped, Gang-Raped & Beaten For 3 Months In Jharkhand

Mumbai: A 16-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped, beaten up and gang-raped by three men for three months in Jharkhand’s Bokaro, police said on Monday.

Police said on Monday that the crime lasted for about three months. The three accused have been identified as Vishnu Kumar, Mantosh and Manoj Kumar. The victim told the police that she did not know the accused personally.

According to a Times of India report, a day after the girl went missing, the family members launched a search operation on April 20 and lodged a missing complaint.

The family alleged that the police did not take the complaint seriously and asked them to wait till their daughter came home.

“A probe was initiated after a case was filed and three accused were named. Police will soon record the girl’s statement and send her for medical examination,” the report quoted Kuldeep Kumar, DSP (City) as saying.

The DSP said that they are trying to identify the accused and arrest them. The accused have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO).

On April 19, when she was returning home after shopping, the three accused kidnapped the girl. The accused dragged the girl into the autorickshaw and tied a cloth over her face.

The girl was taken hostage in a room in the Telidih area. The accused locked the girl in a room and tied a cloth over her face when she went out.

On July 19, a woman in the neighbourhood broke the lock and rescued the girl and let her run away. Later, the girl narrated her ordeal to her parents.

On July 24, the girl accompanied by her family members reached Bokaro women’s police station and filed an FIR in the case.
