17 MPs Test Positive For Coronavirus On Day One Of Parliament’s Monsoon Session

Mumbai: In a shocking incident around 17 members of parliament have been tested positive for Coronavirus just before the beginning of the Monsoon session of the parliament. 

As per reports Meenakshi Lekhi, Anant Kumar Hegde and Parvesh Sahib Singh are among those found infected.

This is the first Parliament session that is being held amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Other MPs who have been detected COVID-19 positive include Sukhbir Singh, Hanuman Beniwal, Sukanata Majumdar, Goddeti Madhavi, Pratap Rao Jadav, Janardan Singh, Bidyut Baran, Pradan Baruah, N Reddeppa, Selvam G, Pratap Rao Patil, Ram Shankar Katheria, Satya Pal Singh and Rodmal Nagar.

Among the infected MPs, the BJP has a maximum number – 12, the YRS Congress has two MPs, the Shiv Sena, DMK, and RLP one each, as per NDT.

A press release issued earlier by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs stated that the monsoon session would hold a total of 18 meetings over a period of 18 days (including Saturday and Sunday). A total of 47 items to be raised during the session – 45 bills and two financial items – will be taken.
