17-Year-Old Girl Jumps To Death From 4th Floor Of Building In Pune

Pune: A 17-year-old girl allegedly jumped to her death from the fourth floor of a building in Pune. The deceased, a trained horse rider, had participated in various national competitions and resided on the first floor of the building.

The deceased has been identified as Shreya Gunesh Purandare, who was a college student and learned horse riding as a child.

The untoward incident reportedly took place at 11 am, following which the families of the girls living in the first floor buildings took them to a private hospital, where they were declared brought dead on arrival.

Police said that in the preliminary investigation of the case, it seems to be a case of death by suicide.

The girl lived on the first floor of the building located in Nanded City Township. Our preliminary investigation indicates that it is a case of suicide. Inspector Sadashiv Shelar, in charge of Haveli police station, was quoted as saying by PTI that he must have either jumped from the third floor or from the fourth floor of the terraced corridor of the building.

He said that we have not received any note or message and the reason behind his taking this step is yet to be known.

The police are yet to record the statement of the girl’s family, who are in shock after the incident.

Gunesh, the father of the deceased, runs an equestrian training academy in Pune, police said.
