19-Yr-Old HSC Student Commits Suicide

Mumbai: In a shocking incident, a 19-year-old student allegedly committed suicide in Aurangabad city after examining the results of Class 12 examination.

It was not yet clear that she passed or failed because her family was suffering from his death, police said. Kiran Gulab Chavan, whose father is a wage labourer, went to his college on Tuesday to see her results in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination conducted by Maharashtra State Board in February-March.

Coming back to home in Mukundwadi area, she did not tell her parents about the result.

Mukundwadi police station official said that she allegedly hanged herself in the roof in a room with a stole, while her parents were having lunch in another room. When her parents did not get any response even after knocking at her door, they opened the door and found Chavan hanged, the official said.

They pulled her down and took her to MGM Hospital where she died during treatment. The official said that the parents told the police that their daughter was concerned about her HSC result.

He said that they were unaware of her results and there was no study-related pressure on her.
