2 More Test COVID-19 Positive In Assam; Cases Rise To 91

Mumbai: Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that two more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Guwahati on Saturday and took the total cases to 91.

A barber and a cart puller, who tested positive on Saturday, have contacts with a migrant worker who worked in a potato warehouse and tested positive on Monday.

Out of 91 positive cases, 46 are active cases, two persons have died, two have escaped and 41 have been discharged from hospitals.

“2 more persons, related to Aloo Godam case, test #COVID19+ in Guwahati,” the minister tweeted.

“To oversee the evacuation of two new #COVID19 positive cases, I went to Kumarpara along with officials. They have been transferred toCH. Both the patients were asymptomatic and were found through contact tracing. There is no need to fear,” the minister said in another tweet.

Three people tested COVID-19 positive on Friday night, one from Surjasai quarantine facility, another at Guwahati Medical College Hospital and the third patient transferred to West Bengal.

29 cases were reported since Monday in Guwahati, while six cases were reported last week, including a 16-year-old girl who was found to be COVID-19 positive after her demise.

In most of the 15 cases, all contacts of the migrant worker were reported on a single day Wednesday and 340 individuals were traced as contacts with these 15 individuals. Awaiting their sample results.

Seven people tested positive on Thursday, including three recent cancer patients, three of their hostesses and a 13-year-old girl who underwent heart surgery. He had recently returned by bus from Mumbai.

The Kamrup (Metro) district administration has declared a number of areas, including a bank branch that has visited 15 positive individuals, and the fancy hub, the commercial hub around the city as a construction zone.

In Assam, so far 28,178 samples have been tested in 28 laboratories and 91 of them are positive, 25,429 were found negative and the remaining results are awaited.
