20 Minister’s Resigns From Madhya Pradesh Govt, CM Kamal Nath Plans Cabinet Reshuffle To ‘Tackle’ Political Crisis

Mumbai: Around 20 ministers from Madhya Pradesh submitted their resignations to Chief Minister Kamal Nath in a major political crisis during a cabinet meeting called late Monday after the state’s political crisis.

“All ministers, present at the meeting, have handed over their resignations (to CM Kamal Nath). We have requested him to reconstitute the state cabinet and tackle the situation created by BJP…Sarkar bachi hui hai, poore 5 saal chalegi (state government is secure and it will be there for complete five years),” Congress leader PC Sharma said, news agency ANI reported.

Meanwhile, Nath, who had come to Bhopal a day earlier after cutting short his Delhi visit, said he would not let the instability forces in the state government succeed.

“I will not let those forces which are creating instability with the help of the mafia. My greatest strength is the faith and love of the people of MP. I will not let those forces which are creating instability in the government – a government created by people of Madhya Pradesh,” he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

In a major political development in Madhya Pradesh, Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia and six-party ministers and 11 MLAs, who are believed to have left for Bangalore ahead of the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.

It has been speculated that Scindia, with the help of his loyalists, was trying to topple the Kamal Nath government in the state. The Congress party, however, accused the BJP of spreading rumours, calling the allegations baseless.

“These are social media rumours. We have a full majority in MP. These are rumours being spread by BJP. We are in touch with all the legislators. Two MLAs are missing and we are told that they are in Bengaluru,” said Narendra Saluja, a spokesperson of the party. Saluja also dismissed as “forged” the passenger manifest that showed the list of MLAs on the flight. “Scindia was with Congress, is with Congress and will be with Congress,” he further said.
