20 Women Detained After Fight At Naveen Patnaik’s Residence

Mumbai: Around 20 women activist were apprehended after Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) women’s wing while marching towards Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s residence that quenched in a fight with security personnel.

According to the reports, the women wanted to meet Patnaik over the clearing of accused Prasant Pradhan and Sukant Pradhan in the Pipili gang rape and murder case. The women were also claiming against Minister Pradeep Maharathy’s critical statement on the verdict.

The BJP Mahila Morcha has been demanding CBI investigation into the case.

While stating to ANI, DCP of Bhubaneswar Anup Sahu said, “Women’s wing of BJP reached his residence and protested. In this protest, we have detained around 20 BJP women activists.”

On November 28, 2011, a 19-year-old woman was found unconscious and semi-naked in a paddy field at Puri’s Pipili. Later, she died on June 21, 2012.

On Monday, BJP Mahila Morcha also complained near Crime Branch Headquarters in Cuttack for the same reason. They declared that the prosecution had mismanaged the probe in the case.
