20-Yr-Old B’luru Man Fakes Kidnapping To Extort ₹5 Lakh From Father

He had a loan of Rs. 3 lakhs and spent them buying branded clothes and mobile phones

Mumbai: A 20-year-old man faked his own kidnapping to extort Rs. 5 lakhs from his father. The man has been identified as Makthum Saab.

During the police interrogation, Makthum Saab said that he had taken a loan of ₹3 lakh to buy branded clothes and mobile phones

Makthum Saab is a resident of Kurubarahalli (Mahalakshmipuram), Bengaluru and works as a private employee.

On September 13, Makthum’s father lodged a police complaint. He alleged that kidnappers abducted his son and were demanding ransom worth Rs 5 lakh. In his complaint, he further noted that his son left home on September 12 after and since his phone is switched off.

The boy’s father also added that he received a voice message demanding Rs 5 lakh ransom as his son was kidnapped by four-five men. When the complaint about the location for payment of cash, they said digital payment would work.

After police caught him, he confessed that he had debt of Rs. 3 lakhs and he had spent money on buying branded clothes and mobile phones.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) Dharmender Kumar Meena said, “We found he was in Tirupati and had reached there using a self-driven car. By then, we had realized there was something fishy,” as quoted by the Times of India.
