Visuals also show the rescue team slowly climbing uphill, making intermittent stops to give the youth some rest.

The youth were safely evacuated by Army personnel by 10.08 am and lined up for massive rescue with local bodies, NDRF, Air Force as well as Coast Guard, perhaps the first of its kind in the state.

Babu was stuck in a gorge between the rocks in front of the mountain in the scorching heat without water and food since Monday.

According to locals, the youth along with two others had decided to climb to the top of Cherad hill on Monday, but the other two abandoned the attempt midway.

However, Babu kept climbing, and reaching there he slipped and fell and got stuck between the rocks in front of the mountain.
