23-Year-Old Wrestler Ravi Dahiya Wins Silver As India Bag 5th Medal At Tokyo Olympics

Mumbai: India’s 23-year-old wrestler Ravi Dahiya bagged a silver medal after losing against Russian Olympic Committee’s Zavur Uguev in the final of men’s 57kg freestyle event at Tokyo Olympics.

With this, he became the second Indian wrestler to win a silver medal at the Olympics after Sushil Kumar in the 2012 edition in London

Uguev dominated the match and did not give the Indian wrestler any chance to paint as India lost their chance to win their first gold medal in wrestling. Despite starting cautiously, Uguev scored points and doubled his lead within seconds.

Ravi may have levelled the scoreboard at 2-2, but Ugweve displayed his immense power to take the lead again as the Indian wrestler went down 4-2 at the end of the first period.

Uguev fired on all cylinders and extended his lead as he did not give Ravi any chance to dominate the game. At one point, Uguev was leading the match 7–2, when Ravi scored two more points to get closer to his opponent.

India has won five medals at Tokyo Olympics so far.
