26-Year-Old Arrested For Setting Ablaze Minor Girl After She Resisted His Rape Attempt
Mumbai: In another shocking incident, a minor girl was allegedly physically assaulted by her employer’s son, for whom she was working as a domestic help in Mustafa Nagar in the district.
About 70 percent of the burn injuries occurred to the girl when her employer’s son poured kerosene on her and burned her 15 days earlier when she refused to sleep with him. She is undergoing treatment at a private hospital near Vinod Theater in Khammam.
ANI news agency quoted the victim saying, “I went to open the door when the owner’s son arrived. The moment I opened the door, he pulled me to him and asked me to sleep with him. When I denied sleeping with him he took the kerosene which was near to him and lit my body. I cried in pain and then his father tore my dress and put some other cloth to cover my body. Most of my body is burnt now.”
“The incident took place 15 days ago under the limits of One Town Police Station in Khammam district. An accused (26) tried to rape a 13-year-old girl when the girl refused and did not agree to it, at that time the boy poured kerosene keeping a grudge in his mind. He lit a fire and the girl received 70 to 80 per cent burn injuries and she has immediately shifted to Pooja Hospital 15 days ago, “Tafseer Iqbal, Commissioner of Police, Khammam District told ANI.
“The incident happened 15 days ago. So yesterday our Police Special Branch got information through the Police Public Relations Officer that there was something in that hospital. I asked the additional DCP and ACP of Town to visit the hospital, and they informed me that the incident was true. As no one has approached the police to file a complaint, we have taken Suo Motu, informed the magistrate to file a declaration of dying, we have interrogated the victim, and the information we have on the basis of that, we have formed a team, and they have arrested the accused, who is in police custody, we are confirming whether he is the accused or not, “he said.
The officer further said that the police have informed the district collector and a DMHO has been appointed for better treatment.
