3 Men Arrested For Gangrape Of 16-Year-Old Girl In A Moving Car In Delhi

Mumbai: Three men have been arrested over the alleged gang rape of a 16-year-old girl in a moving car, police said on Friday. The Class 10 girl reportedly told the police that she was in a market with two of the men, who spiked her drink and took her into a car brought by the third accused.

The police have arrested three people including two rapists and another person present at the time of the incident in this heinous crime. The ages of the three accused were 23, 25 and 35 years.

The incident happened on the intervening night of July 6-7 when the victim had gone to meet two of her acquaintances.

“A PCR call was received at Vasant Vihar police station at 4 a.m. on July 8 in which the caller stated three men have molested a girl,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) Manoj C. said.

The caller of the victim girl’s father told the police that his minor daughter had left Vasant Vihar along with three people in a Wagon R car at 8.30 pm. on 6 July and they all returned in the morning the next day, 7 July. The girl told her parents about the incident late in the evening after which they took their daughter to the hospital.

“On enquiry, the victim girl told that on July 6 at 8.30 pm, she met with two men, both known to her, near Vasant Vihar market. Both of them offered her a joyride and then another person came there with his Wagon R car,” the DCP said.

DCP Manoj said, ‘The victim said in her statement that after consuming alcohol, all four went to a secluded place, where a person who knew the girl first kissed her first and later the other two men committed rape,” DCP Manoj said.

Accordingly, based on his statement, the police registered a case under the POCSO Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

The official informed that there was no external injury to the victim or even to the accused. “Investigation is still underway to clarify the facts,” the official added.
