Mumbai: Three men allegedly gang-raped and killed a four-month pregnant goat in Kerala’s Kanhangad town, police said. The goat, which belonged to Elite Hotel, was due to give birth next month.
The accused has been identified as Senthil, a hotel employee from Tamil Nadu. He was arrested on the complaint of the hotel owner.
“Two other men managed to flee from the spot,” said an officer from Hosdurg police.
At around 1.30 a.m. Wednesday, hotel staff heard a commotion in the backyard, where they had kept two goats, a billy and a pregnant nanny.
The official told India Today, “The preliminary report of the government vet who conducted the postmortem revealed that the goat was subjected to unnatural sex. The cause of death will be revealed in the detailed report only.”
According to the New Indian Express, the police said that they will be charged under relevant sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and unnatural offences under section 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). If found guilty, he could be sentenced to life imprisonment or up to 10 years.
