Mumbai: In a shocking incident, a 37-year-old woman was raped by a person in a civilian hospital on the pretext of helping to fill the fee concession form.
The accused has been identified as Deepak Annapa Kunchukurve, who resides in the Dharavi area.
According to police officials, the incident took place last Friday on the fifth floor of the Sion Hospital building.
The victim, when a housewife was taking care of her sister, was admitted to the hospital in the facility, the accused, who came there for some work, interacted with him and asked him to fill the form to ask for a concession in medical bills he said.
Since she was unaware of any such form, the accused took her to the fifth floor of the building on the pretext of showing the respective counter.
Sion police station inspector Sanjay Poplaghat said that he allegedly raped a different staircase there and ran away.
He said that on the basis of the complaint of the victim, the police filed an FIR and after examining the CCTV footage of the hospital, they arrested the accused on Saturday.
The accused was booked under Indian Penal Code Section 376 (rape), he said, adding that a probe was underway.
