Mumbai: Residents of a society in Mumbai’s Kandivali have claimed that they were given a fake COVID-19 vaccine, saying that they showed no symptoms after receiving the shots.
According to residents, a person claiming to be a representative of Kokilaben Ambani Hospital contacted the housing society and claimed that he has already conducted some vaccination drives for corporate houses and colleges. Society gave the job to conduct the drive to this person.
However, Kokilaben Hospital has said that they don’t conduct these outdoor drives.
Days after they organised a vaccination programme in their housing society, nearly 400 members of a Kandivli residential complex suspect they have been conned. The society members began doubting the exercise after their certificates showed different hospital names and the hospitals denied holding any such drive.
Not even a single member showed usual side effects like fever or body ache. They have now approached the local MLA to pursue the case with the police.
The entries of residents related to their Aadhar card etc were made manually instead of making these entries online, they were not given any invoice of the vaccination and none of those who took the jab got any side effect whatsoever which other people of this age slab (18-44 yrs) are having.
The police feel prima facie that the Hiranandani Society also did not follow the procedure while giving the work of this vaccination campaign.
According to Additional CP, Northern Zone, Mumbai, “We are conducting preliminary inquiry in the matter. Only after that investigation is completed will we take any action, such as registering an FIR or whatever is required by law.”
