4 UK Returnees In Gujarat Test Positive For New Coronavirus Strain
Mumbai: Four people in Gujarat have tested positive for a new strain of coronavirus. They have all recently returned from the United Kingdom (UK). These four patients have already been separated at the SVP Hospital in Ahmedabad as per the guidelines of the Centre.

Officially stated that the results of 15 samples tested positive for coronovirus upon arrival from the UK to Ahmedabad are currently pending with the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune.
“All passengers arriving from the UK to Ahmedabad were screened, and samples of those testing positive for coronavirus were sent to the NIV. Jayanthi Ravi told reporters that we have received information that the stress of UK coronavirus has been detected in four such cases.
Ravi said, “The test of 15 samples has tested positive for coronavirus upon reaching Ahmedabad. The Union Health Ministry had said that the Indian government took cognizance of the reported virus from Britain and devised an active and preventive strategy to detect and contain the mutant variant.”

The strategy includes the temporary suspension of all flights arriving from England from midnight of December 23 to 7 January and mandatory testing of all UK-returned air passengers via RT-PCR testing.
