Mumbai: In a shocking incident, the four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man when she went to play outside her home in Maharashtra’s Navi Mumbai colony, PTI reported.
The police officer said that the incident took place on Sunday in Taloja area, about 35 km from here, after which accused Ashok Kumar Yadav (24) was arrested.
While the girl was playing outside her house, Yadav, a daily wage labourer who lives nearby, allegedly lured the girl to a secluded place where she raped her, he said.
When the girl’s parents noticed injuries on her private parts and enquired with her, she told them about the incident, he said.
The girl’s father took her to the hospital and also contacted the police.
The official said that Yadav, a resident of Bilaspur district in Chhattisgarh and working in Navi Mumbai for the last few months, was arrested.
He said a case was registered under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and the relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
The girl was undergoing treatment at a hospital, the official said, adding that her statement was yet to be recorded.
