40% Of Global Real-Time Digital Payments Took Place In India In 2021: PM

Mumbai: PM Narendra Modi while addressing the Indian community in Germany’s Berlin said of all the global real-time digital payments in 2021, 40% took place in India. PM Modi was highlighting the work done by his government in integrating the use of technology with governance.

PM Modi said, “The way technology is being incorporated in governance in India, it reflects the new political will of New India and is also a testament to the delivery capability of democracy.”

The Prime Minister, in his address to the overseas Indians, highlighted the work of his government and also took a dig at the opposition, mainly the Congress.

Talking about making many services of various government departments online, the Prime Minister said, “Around 10,000 services of the Central Government, State Government and Local Self Government have become available online be it government assistance, scholarship, payments to farmers, everything is transferred directly to the bank account.”

Targeting former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, PM Modi said, ‘Now no PM will have to say that I send Re 1 from Delhi, and reach 15 paise (people).’

“What kind of ‘hand’ was he, who cleaned 85 paise,” he said.

While addressing the overseas Indians, PM Modi said, ‘This is the same country, which you left to come here, the country is the same, the bureaucracy is the same, the offices are the same, the table is the same, the file is the same, the pen is the same, the government machinery is the same, but the results are much better now.”

The Prime Minister also talked about “constructing a record number of airports in the country”, working extensively on metro construction as well as connecting villages with optical fiber networks.

“Before 2014, wherever you see, everything would be a work in progress. I am not criticising anyone but if a road was made, then it’s dug up for electricity, then for water. To end this, we’ve made PM Gati Shakti Master Plan to bring all stakeholders to one platform,” PM Modi said.

This address to the Indian community came soon after the 6th India-Germany Inter-Governmental Consultation, co-chaired by PM Modi and Chancellor Scholz.

The Prime Minister said that inter-governmental consultations were productive.

PM Modi is also scheduled to visit Denmark on Tuesday to hold talks with leaders from Nordic countries. He will also make a stopover in Paris on Wednesday and meet the newly re-elected French President Emmanuel Macron.
