5 Nepali Nationals Returning From Kumbh Die In Accident In Bihar

Muzaffarpur: A tragic road accident on the Madhubani four-lane bypass near Muzaffarpur claimed the lives of five Nepalese nationals on Saturday. The victims were returning from Prayagraj after attending the Maha Kumbh when their SUV crashed into a divider and overturned multiple times.
According to reports, the Scorpio SUV was attempting to avoid a collision with a biker performing stunts on the road when the driver lost control of the speeding vehicle. The force of the impact caused the SUV to flip over five times, leaving it completely mangled. Eyewitnesses described the horrifying scene, with shattered glass, bloodstains, and a detached tire lodged inside the vehicle’s cabin.
Victims Identified, Four Critically Injured
The SUV was carrying nine people at the time of the accident. Five passengers, including the driver, died on the spot. They have been identified as Archana Thakur, Indu Devi, Mantarni Devi, Bal Krishna Jha, and the driver.
Four other passengers sustained critical injuries and were rushed to Shri Krishna Memorial Medical College (SKMCH) for urgent medical attention. The injured victims have been identified as Manohar Thakur, Srishti Thakur, Kamni Jha, and Devtaran Devi. Their condition remains serious.
Bikers Allegedly Responsible, Airbags Failed to Deploy
Eyewitnesses claim that a group of bikers performing dangerous stunts on the highway forced the SUV driver to swerve suddenly, leading to the crash. The bikers reportedly fled the scene immediately after the accident.
Authorities also revealed that the SUV’s airbags failed to deploy, significantly increasing the severity of injuries among passengers.
Authorities Take Action
Local residents played a crucial role in rescuing the injured and pulling victims from the wreckage before emergency services arrived. Senior police officials confirmed that Nepalese authorities have been informed of the incident, and efforts are underway to contact the victims’ families.
“Five people lost their lives at the spot, while four others were rescued with severe injuries. We are in touch with Nepalese officials and are providing all necessary assistance to the victims and their families,” a police spokesperson said.
The tragic accident has once again highlighted the dangers of reckless driving and stunts on highways. Authorities are investigating the incident and are likely to take action against those responsible.
