50-Yr-Old Man Goes On Blind Date’ Kidnapped by Woman For INR 3 Lakh Ransom
Mumbai: A 50-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh’s Lalitpur was rescued by police after being kidnapped in a honeytrap scheme. The victim, identified as Lallu Chaubey, was held captive in Jhansi by a gang demanding a ransom of Rs 3 lakh, police confirmed. Three suspects, including a woman, have been arrested in connection with the abduction.
The incident surfaced when Chaubey’s son reported his father’s abduction to local police, explaining that they had already paid Rs 1 lakh of the ransom. Acting swiftly, authorities formed a rescue team, with a constable posing as Chaubey’s son to negotiate a ransom handoff. This undercover operation led police to Chaubey’s location, where additional officers moved in to rescue him.
The suspects—Kiran (35), Akhilesh Ahirwar (30), and Satish Singh Bundela (27)—were apprehended at the scene. Police say the gang used a woman to lure Chaubey to Jhansi under the guise of a personal meeting. Once there, he was held hostage, and his captors demanded money from his family.
Upon interrogation, the suspects admitted to similar honeytrap schemes involving multiple women within their group. Police are now investigating further, suspecting that this was part of a larger network targeting unsuspecting individuals.
