50:50 Formula Will Not Be Considered, I Will Be CM For Next Five Years: Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai: Situation getting worse over who will be the next CM among both the alliance party, as Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday said that he will be the CM of the state for another term of five years.

This comes after Shiv Sena, BJP’s biggest ally demanded of 50:50 power-sharing deal in Maharashtra so that its leader and first-time MLA Aaditya Thackeray could become the CM for at least 2.5 years.

“Our party president has confirmed that nothing has been decided on the post of CM to the Shiv Sena. No formula has been decided yet, ”Fadnavis said while answering a question on the alleged 50:50 power-sharing deal as promoted by the Shiv Sena.

Fadnavis told reporters at his official residence ‘Varsha’ here, “The Shiv Sena was not promised the post of CM for two and a half years, when the alliance was formally announced before the Lok Sabha elections, I will be the Chief Minister for the next five years.”

“At the time of the Lok Sabha elections, Shiv Sena had put forward a proposal for a rotational chief minister for 2.5 years, but no decision was taken before me. Any discussion on this between Amit Shah and Uddhavji is known only. They and only they can decide on it, ”Fadnavis said.

“Shiv Sena has not made any demands yet. If they make the demand, we will decide on merit, ”Fadnavis added, adding, apparently an olive branch is being expanded for the Maharashtra party.

Fadnavis assured that the next government in Maharashtra would be formed under the leadership of BJP. “I assure that it will be a BJP-led government. The BJP will lead a stable and efficient government of Mahayuti (alliance) for five years.

Fadnavis also said that the BJP already has the support of 10 independent MLAs. “We expect support from 5 more independents,” he said.

The remarks came during BJP President Amit Shah’s visit to Mumbai this weekend, during which he is expected to resolve differences with the Shiv Sena and pave the way for forming a government in Maharashtra, where the Assembly election results were declared on October 24.
