6-Year-Old Girl Raped By 25-Year-Old On Express Train Heading To Mumbai

Mumbai: A 25-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl on a running express train that was heading to Mumbai.

The incident took place when the train was crossing Madhya Pradesh.

The six-year-old girl was travelling in the general compartment of the train with her mother and three sisters. The family was on their way back home in Thane district from their native place in Uttar Pradesh. The incident happened at around 4.30 am on February 15 when the train had reached Timarni in Madhya Pradesh.

The girl and her mother were sleeping when the arrested accused Sonu Prajapati allegedly sexually assaulted her. The girl woke up and informed her mother.

Prajapati ran away and hid in the toilet. The girl’s mother caught Prajapati with the help of other passengers. Then she called her husband, who was in the Thane district. He contacted Kalyan GRP at 2.30 pm.

After this, Kalyan GRP alerted the control rooms at Aurangabad and Igatpuri, but they could not stop the train on time. After this Kalyan GRP decided to nab the accused. The train reached Kalyan railway station after 12 hours, after which fellow passengers handed over the accused Prajapati to the police.

Kalyan GRP then handed him over to Itarsi Police in Madhya Pradesh. The accused is a labourer who was coming to Mumbai in search of a job. An FIR for rape has been registered under sections of the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act.
