Mumbai: At least 73 people were killed and 3,700 injured after two major explosions in the capital of Beirut on Tuesday. A video of the blast showed a gust of smoke rising in the sky, while distant buildings were shaken, causing the city to panic.

Taking cognizance of the matter, Lebabon Prime Minister Hassan Diab said that 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate exploded in the warehouse of Beirut harbor.

“It is unacceptable that a shipment of 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate has been present in a warehouse for six years, without preventive measures,” AFP quoted him saying.

The online video showed a column of smoke rising from the harbor area in what appeared to be an initial explosion, followed by a massive explosion that sent a mushroom cloud and a shock wave race into the city.
