91 New COVID Cases Reported In Puducherry

Mumbai: On Tuesday, 91 new cases were reported for 2,179 people in the union territory.

Director of Health and Family Welfare S Mohan Kumar said 91 new cases were reported during the last 24 hours at the end of testing of 521 samples marking 17.9 percent of positivity. The death rate was 1.4 percent.

The total active cases in Puducherry on Tuesday were 831, while the total number of patients recovered and discharged was 1,318 and fatal 30.

Kumar said that out of 31,947 samples, so far 29,495 patients were tested negatively and awaiting the results of the examination of the remaining samples.

Fifty-three patients were discharged (in 34 hospitals in Puducherry, 7 from hospitals in Karaikal and 12 in Yanam region).

Of the new cases, 90 patients were admitted to hospitals in Puducherry and the remaining one was admitted to the Government Hospital in Karaikal.

Active cases were 831, spread over Puducherry 758, Karaikal 45, and Yanam 28. Total fatalities were 30 and 1,318 patients recovered and discharged.

Meanwhile, India recorded 37,148 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, pushing its tally to 11,55,191, while the total number of recoveries increased to 7,24,577, according to Union health ministry data on Tuesday.

The death toll due to the disease rose to 28,084 with 587 fatalities reported in a day, the data updated at 8 am showed.
