A School Student Grabbed My Breast In Mumbai Local Train: Aditi Pohankar

Mumbai: Actor Aaditi Pohankar, known for her roles in Netflix’s She and Aashram Season 3 Part 2, recently opened up about a disturbing experience she faced during her teenage years while traveling in a Mumbai local train.

In a candid conversation with Hauterrfly, Aaditi recalled being molested by a schoolboy while traveling in the ladies’ compartment, where young boys in school uniforms were also permitted. She recounted the shock and distress she felt when the boy inappropriately touched her.

“I was wearing a kurta. I had no idea he had this intention towards me, and when he did, I went into a state of shock. So, I got off at the next station and went to the police station,” she said. However, her plea for justice was initially met with indifference from the authorities. The police officer reportedly dismissed her complaint, asking, ‘Did anything major happen?’ and questioning how they would locate the perpetrator.

In a shocking turn of events, Aaditi spotted the same boy at the station attempting to harass another girl. When she pointed him out, the police initially demanded proof. Determined to hold him accountable, she confronted him with the help of a female constable. “I screamed at him, scaring him because he was young after all, and I was two to three years older than him. When I made a gesture as if I was going to hit him, he panicked and said, ‘Haan, sorry, sorry’ (Yes, sorry, sorry),” she revealed.

The actor, who has been vocal about the issue of harassment, said this was just one of many instances she has faced since childhood. She emphasized the need for women to speak up and demand action against such misconduct.

Aaditi Pohankar became a household name with her portrayal of a police officer in She, and she continues to receive praise for her performance in Aashram Season 3 Part 2. Her courage in sharing her personal experience sheds light on the pressing issue of women’s safety in public spaces, sparking an important conversation about the need for stricter measures to combat harassment.
