AB De Villiers Offers To Come Out Of Retirement For World Cup, South Africa Rejects Proposal

Mumbai: Retired SA player AB De Villiers offered to return to international cricket in England for the World Cup for South Africa. However, his proposal was rejected by the South African team management.

It is believed that De Villiers expressed his desire to return to the international team for South African captain Faf du Plessis and other important members of the management, but according to ESPNcricinfo, such a move was not possible.

Twenty-four hours before the South Africa World Cup announcement, De Villiers approached du Plessis and coach Otis Gibson and expressed his desire to join the team for the Quadrennial tournament in England.

However, the team management considered absence from AB Villiers ‘domestic circuit and other members’ performance, including rope van der Dussen during the post-retirement of the Royal Challengers Bangalore star.

AB de Villiers in IPL 2019 edition, the Royal Challengers were indifferent to Bangalore and he scored 513 runs in 13 innings at an average of 44.20 and ended their campaign with a strike rate of 154 with 5 fifties.

Looking at the worst form of De Villiers’s current form and protease in the eight World Cup campaigns, South Africa’s team captain will take several eyebrows to decide the offer of international return by the South African team management.

Meanwhile, South Africa has now recorded its worst start in eight World Cup campaigns. After losing their first two matches for England and Bangladesh, Virat Kohli’s men lost six wickets in Southampton on Wednesday.
