Mumbai: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has submitted another affidavit to the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court and gave a clean chit to the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar in the alleged Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation (VIDC) scam.

The ACB said in the affidavit filed on Thursday, “As per the role of defendant no. 7 (Ajit Pawar), no criminal liability has been disclosed during the interrogation/investigation by the special investigation teams.”

The affidavit was filed by Param Bir Singh, director-general of the agency. It added that the open investigation of 45 tenders has been called off as no criminal offense was disclosed in the case.

The agency also presented Pawar’s name in the irrigation scam on November 27 in an affidavit.

Pawar, among others, was in charge of the irrigation department of Maharashtra when the Congress-NCP coalition government was in power in the state from 1999 to 2014.
