Adhir Chowdhury Urges PM Modi To Help Migrant Labourers Each Their Homes

Mumbai: Congress Lok Sabha leader Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to make arrangements to take migrant labourers to their home or the nearest point from where their respective states safely return them to their homes.

In his letter on Thursday, Chaudhary said, “I would like to bring to your knowledge and firmly believe that you are aware better than me about stranded migrant labourers from various parts of the country with inadequate food, lodging, clothing, healthcare as well as facing uncertainty.”

Later, he suggested that “arrange for these people to be brought to their home or the nearest point from where their respective states would assure them to return to their homes.”

“In this humanitarian operation, can we use special ‘COVID security trains’ to relieve these helpless, impoverished labourers from their mental anguish?” Chaudhary said.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday informed that the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in India is now 6,412. Of these, 5, 09 are active patients and 506 of them have recovered/discharged and migrated.

With 30 new deaths in the last 12 hours, the figure of deaths has reached 199.
