Against Constitutional Values, Won’t Be Scared Or Suppressed’: JP Nadda On Narayan Rane’s Arrest

Mumbai: Hitting out at the Maharashtra government over the arrest of Union minister and senior BJP leader Narayan Rane, BJP chief JP Nadda on Tuesday termed the move a “violation of constitutional values” and saying that it “will neither be scared nor suppressed” by such action.

Rane was on Tuesday arrested from Chiplun city in Ratnagiri district over his remarks against Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

“The arrest of Union Minister Narayan Rane Ji by the Maharashtra government is a violation of constitutional values. We will neither be scared nor suppressed by such action. These people are troubled by the immense support the BJP is getting in the Jan-Aashirvad Yatra. We will continue to fight democratically, the journey will continue,” BJP chief JP Nadda said in a tweet in Hindi.

The BJP leader and former Shiv Sena chief minister courted controversy over his remarks of slapping Thackeray, which he claimed as ignorance of the post-independence year. He claimed that Thackeray had forgotten the year of independence during his August 15 speech and had to check it with his colleagues during the speech.
