AIMPLB To File Review Petition Against Ayodhya Verdict In Dec First Week

Mumbai: A review petition will be filed by All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), against the Supreme Court’s verdict on the Ayodhya dispute.

It has been reported that senior lawyer Zafaryab Jilani, the AIMPLB will file the plea before the 30-day limit which expires on December 9.

“Exercising our constitutional right, we are going to file a review petition in the Babri Masjid case during the first week of December. The decision by the Sunni Waqf Board not to pursue the case will not legally affect us. All Muslims the organizations are on the same page,” Jilani said in a tweet.

“The date for filing the review petition cannot be announced yet as it has not been decided on whose behalf the petition will be filed,” Jilani said. He further claimed that the Ayodhya police were harassing potential Muslim parties, who may file a review petition.

Notably, the UP Sunni Waqf Board announced yesterday that it would not challenge the Supreme Court’s decision. AIMPLB said the decision of the Sunni Waqf Board, one of the main lawsuits in the Ayodhya case, would not legally affect it. However, the Sunni Waqf Board has decided to accept an alternative plot of five acres.
