Mumbai: The first Chhattisgarh CM Ajit Jogi passed away today in hospital. He was 74.
“The health of the first chief minister deteriorated at around 1.30 pm today. He suffered from cardiac arrest. The doctors tried to revive him for about two hours, but unfortunately, they were not able to revive him. He breathed his last at 3.30 pm today,” Shree Narayana Hospital, where Jogi was admitted, said in a bulletin
The son of Ajit Jogi, Amit Jogi tweeted: “20-year-old state Chhattisgarh lost its father today. It is not only me who has lost his father but the entire state. Respectable Ajit Jogi Ji left his 2.5-crore strong family and left for heavenly abode. The anchor of villages and Chhattisgarh’s dearest went far away from us.”

Earlier on Friday, 74-year-old Ajit Jogi suffered two cardiac arrests following which doctors described his health as “extremely dangerous”. On 9 May, Jogi, suffering from cardiac arrest, was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Raipur at his home in the capital of Chhattisgarh.
Ajit Jogi has served as the first Chief Minister of the state of Chhattisgarh from November 2000 to November 2003. He participated with the Congress in 2016 and formed the Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (J).
