All Passenger Trains Cancelled Till March 31 In Wake Of COVID-19, Says Indian Railways

Mumbai: In the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic by the Indian Railways, all passenger train operations in the country have been cancelled till 31 March.

A minimum level of suburban services of trains and Kolkata Metro Rail service will continue till midnight today.
“Long-distance Mail / Express and Intercity trains (including premium trains) and all original passenger trains will be cancelled by 2400 hrs of 31 March,” the Railway Ministry said in a press release.

“It states that trains that started their journey before 0400 hours of 22 March will run to their destination. The freight train will continue to operate,” it said.

The zonal railways have been advised to ensure strict adherence to the instructions.

The Ministry of Railways said, “Arrange for extensive publicity through print and electronic media. The cancellation should be communicated to the passengers via SMS. Confirm the action,” the Railway Ministry said.

To ensure the necessary supplies to various parts of the country, movement of goods trains will continue.

To make it more convenient for the passengers, full refund for all cancelled trains may be taken till June 21, 2020
