Allu Arjun Didn’t Leave Theatre Even After Woman Death Police Forced Him Out: Telangana CM

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday criticized actor Allu Arjun for attending the screening of Pushpa-2 at Sandhya Theatre on December 4, despite police denying permission for the event. The incident resulted in a stampede that claimed the life of a 35-year-old woman and left her eight-year-old son hospitalized.

The CM made these remarks in response to a question raised by AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi in the Telangana Legislative Assembly. Referring to widely circulated videos, Reddy alleged that the actor’s actions, including waving to crowds from his car’s sunroof, caused chaos among fans and contributed to the tragedy.

Allegations Against the Actor

Chief Minister Reddy stated that the theatre management had requested police security for the December 4 screening, but the application was denied due to concerns over crowd management. Despite this, Allu Arjun proceeded with his visit. Before entering and exiting the theatre, the actor reportedly stood through his car’s sunroof and waved to a massive crowd of fans.

Reddy alleged that the actor stayed at the theatre even after the stampede occurred and had to be forcibly removed by the police. He further criticized the film fraternity for visiting Allu Arjun after his arrest instead of showing empathy towards the injured child, who is still undergoing treatment in the hospital.

“I appeal to the top film personalities that they should not be inhuman,” the CM remarked. He added that the government would not offer special privileges to anyone involved in such incidents and vowed to hold accountable those responsible for troubling common citizens.

Legal Consequences

Following the tragic event, the Hyderabad police registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The case was filed at the Chikkadpally police station based on a complaint lodged by the deceased woman’s family.

On December 13, Allu Arjun was arrested by city police in connection with the case. However, the Telangana High Court granted him a four-week interim bail on the same day, leading to his release from prison on the morning of December 14.

Public and Political Reactions

The incident has sparked widespread debate, with critics questioning the lack of precautionary measures at public events and the role of celebrities in ensuring public safety. The CM’s remarks have drawn attention to the responsibilities of public figures and the potential consequences of large-scale fan gatherings.

The young boy injured in the stampede continues to battle for his life in the hospital as investigations into the incident proceed.
