Amit Shah Chairs Meeting In Srinagar To Review Security For Amrnath Yatra

Mumbai: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has started his two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, chaired by a review meeting on security arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra in Sher-E-Kashmir International Convention Center.

Chaired by Amit Shah the meeting was also attended by all security agencies operating in the Valley. In the meeting, the state police made a presentation on the security measures for the yatra. Governor Satya Pal Malik was also present at the meeting.

On the second day of his visit to the state, Shah will meet BJP leaders and panchayats in Nehru Guest House in Cheshma Shahi area of ​​Srinagar. He will meet the representatives of the civil society of people associated with tourism and some young delegations. Before returning to Delhi, the Home Minister will address a media conference in Srinagar tomorrow.

Meanwhile, before their visit, tourists were advised to stay away from the Boulevard Axis. The District Magistrate of Srinagar imposed traffic restrictions on Wednesdays from 8 am to 10.30hrs and Thursday from 7 am to 4pm.

On the other hand, the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF have conducted a joint mock drill to take stock of security arrangements before the Amarnath yatra. Security arrangements have been tightened at railway stations so that any kind of terrorist incident can be dealt with. Police jawans have also been deployed in plain clothes.

However, Shah will not visit Jammu and Ladakh divisions this time.

The Amarnath Yatra begins on July 1 and goes on till August 15.
