Amit Shah Conducts Aerial Survey Of Rain Affected Uttarakhand; ‘Situation Under Control’

Amit Shah informed that the death toll has risen to 64 due to heavy rains and 11 are missing so far

Mumbai: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday conducted an aerial survey of the rain-affected areas of Uttarakhand and said that the situation is been controlled & Char Dham Yatra is resumed.

“I held a high-level review meeting with officials of the State and Centre over the natural disaster in Uttarakhand. Due to timely rainfall alerts, the extent of damage could be controlled. Now, the Char Dham Yatra has resumed,” Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Dehradun.

The Union Minister was accompanied by Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and  Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (retd).

The minister also informed that no tourist casualty was reported due to the natural calamity in the state.

“There has been no tourist casualty so far due to heavy rains in Uttarakhand. More than 3500 people were rescued & more than 16,000 precautionary evacuations were done. 17 NDRF teams, 7 SDRF teams, 15 companies of PAC, more than 5000 police personnel deployed,” said Amit Shah.

However, Amit Shah also informed that the death toll has risen to 64 due to heavy rains and 11 are missing so far. One of the two missing trekking teams were located.

Roads in Nainital, Almora, and Haldwani are been cleared. Power stations will be resumed soon in the region, as informed by the home minister.

Amit further said that 80% of mobile networks have been restored in the state.

This week, Uttarakhand received record-breaking rainfall which led to floods, landslides, and destruction of property.
