Apartment To Become Containment Zone If Over 3 COVID Cases Reported: BBMP

Mumbai: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) said on Thursday that an apartment complex will be declared as a containment zone if more than three COVID-19 cases are reported.

As per the new rules, the BBMP said that an entire housing society will be declared a ‘containment zone’ for at least 7 days if more than three coronavirus cases are reported in the building.

Invoking the new COVID protocol, the BBMP said that in the last 10 days, the number of daily cases has seen an increase and it is imperative that we need to increase COVID-19 surveillance keeping public health in mind.

As per the guidelines, the BBMP has asked the RWA members to ensure that the body temperature of all residents, house help and visitors is checked. Use of masks should be ensured, and there should be provision for hand sanitization/handwash in common areas like floors, railings, surfaces etc.

Railings on stairs should be cleaned using sodium hypochlorite, bleaching powder, or any effective disinfectant to maintain the highest level of cleanliness and hygiene.

Common areas such as walkways and parks used for walking or jogging can be used subject to strict maintenance of proper COVID practices (masks, social distancing). These places should not be converted into socializing or gathering places.

BBMP asked RWAs to create common groups (MyGet, WhatsApp, Telegram etc.) and use it to encourage COVID vaccination and spread awareness about infectious disease.

The order said that the use of gymnasiums, sports facilities, swimming pools should be avoided in apartment complexes.

The parents have been asked to make their children wear masks in the open spaces and play areas.

Events or any gatherings at clubhouse or community hall should be preferably be avoided if unavoidable shall not exceed 50 members.
