Army Ready For Operations In Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir If Required: Army chief

Mumbai: Army Chief General MM Narwane has said that his army was ready to conduct operations in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir when questioned by the government.

In an interview to a news channel, General Narwane said that the army had put in place several plans to carry out operations in PoK, stating that the force was prepared for ‘any task’.

The army chief said that all personnel were deployed on the International Border and Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, adding that the plans could be said to be implemented. General Narvan told NDTV, “We will carry out any task successfully and we have to do anything.”

The army chief said that the POK was unlikely to have a large-scale operation.

“Should that be the mandate,” was Gen Naravane’s answer in response to a question on the same.

Earlier, after taking over as army chief on Tuesday from General Bipin Rawat, who has become India’s first Chief of Defense Staff, General Narwane said that there was a “pre-emptive strike” across the Indian Line of Control.

The army chief said that India showed “newness” in its response mechanism to acts of terrorism emanating from Pakistan.

“If Pakistan does not stop its policy of state-sponsored terrorism, we reserve the right to pre-emptive strike at the sources of the terror threat and this response was adequately demonstrated in our response during the surgical strike and the Balakot operation Is, ”said General Narayan. Issuing a stern warning to Islamabad.
