Arrest Warrant Against Kangana If She Doesn’t Appear: Court On Javed Akhtar Case Hearing

Kangana Ranaut has missed her previous few courts hearing in the Javed Akhtar Defamation Case

Mumbai: The Bombay High Court has issued a warning against actor Kangana Ranaut for not being present during the hearing proceedings. The court said that if she fails to appear in court for the next hearing, it will issue an arrest warrant against the actor.

Ranaut’s lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui explained that the actor has been unwell for the past few days and showing symptoms of Covid-19.

“She has been travelling a lot to promote her film and has been meeting a lot of people. So, she has probably contracted Covid due to that. She has to undergo a test. I am seeking a short date,” Siddiqui told the court.

Akhtar’s Lawyer Bhanushali who was present with Sabana Azimi opposed the plea. He said that the actor had been absent for the past 8 hearings. On this, Siddiqui said that the court was not functioning for Three or four hearing and others where genuine cases where she wasn’t well.

The court said, “If she fails to appear, I will issue an arrest warrant,” The next hearing is on September 20.

In July, Kangana challenged the criminal proceedings against her. But has dismissed her plea. She has also filed a plea for permanent exemption of appearance in the case which will be pending until next hearing.

Javed Akhtar had filed a defamation case last year after Kangana did an interview with Republic Tv after the demise of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Akhtar said that she is tarnishing him in the eyes of public.
