Arrest Warrant Against Shashi Tharoor Over Hindu-Pakistan Comment

Mumbai: The current Congress leader Shashi Tharoor made a Hindu-Pakistan comment due to which he might get booked. The Kolkata Magistrate Metropolitan court on Tuesday issued an arrest warrant against the congress leader.

The former union minister had once said that if, “BJP will pave the way for the creation of Hindu-Pakistan,” the comment created a buzz of controversy and he had to face many negative comments and was lambasted by the BJP supporters.

On July 12 an advocate named Sumeet Chowdhary had filed the case against Tharoor. The advocate alleged that Tharoor’s comment had “created disharmony and was a deliberate and malicious act intended to outrage religious feelings. This statement was made at a gathering in Thiruvanthapuram to create conflict and disharmony and has also insulted our secular country.”

On the top of that Tharoor was sued under section 2 of Prevention of insults of national honour act 1971.

The court after issuance of the arrest warrant had also asked Shashi Tharoor to appear before the court for the next hearing on August 14.

In the petition, the advocate Chowdhary had also stated that Tharoor had refused to apologize for commenting BJP will make a Hindu-Pakistan.
