Arvind Kejriwal Did Not Take Strong Stand Against CAA: Shashi Tharoor

Attacking the BJP, Tharoor said that the country is going through turmoil, facing discontent and attacks on university campuses in Delhi

Mumbai: Following the recent incident took place in JNU, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor accused AAP president and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of not taking a “strong” stand against the amended Citizenship Act.

Tharoor appealed to the people of Delhi to oppose any move to polarize the assembly elections on the CAA issue and recent incidents of violence next month.

Tharoor said in a press conference, “Kejriwal probably wants both pro and anti-CA people in his favour, so he did not take a hard stand on this. On what basis should people vote for him.” In Delhi Congress office.

Tharoor claimed that Kejriwal had earlier said that Delhi Police did not stop the violence in JNU as there were orders not to interfere in it. He asked who prevented the Chief Minister of Delhi from taking a stand at CAA and showing sympathy with the students.

“I don’t know whose orders he (Kejriwal) is getting – who told you (Kejriwal) not to speak about violence against his students, to meet the injured students and not take a clear stand on the CAA. You are the CM and there is nobody to order you,” he said.

Tharoor hoped that there would be no further violence, saying such incidents were a blot on the country. He accused the BJP of trying to polarize before the elections.

“Certainly, the BJP’s intention is to create polarization before almost every election. We hope that educated voters of Delhi will somehow oppose such a move to polarize,” he said when the CAA and NRC were one The election will become an issue.

Tharoor said his party took a “strong and clear stand” against the CAA.

“You cannot reduce the CAA on only one religion issue. It is not only about Indian Muslims, but it is also a matter of all Indians,” he said while attacking the BJP.
