As Centre Withdraws SPG Covers For Gandhi Family, Congress Workers Protest Outside Amit Shah’s House

Mumbai: The BJP-led government recently decided to withdraw the SPG cover from Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi to reduce the perception of danger to the family. Sources said that in recent times there is no direct threat to the Gandhi family.

However, the family will continue to have the Z-Plus protection cover.

Sources said that the security of the Gandhi family will now be handled by trained commandos by the Central Reserve Police Force. Sources said the decision to withdraw the SPG protection cover has been taken after assessing the threat input from all agencies.

Meanwhile, Congress workers on Friday protested near the residence of Home Minister Amit Shah expressing dissatisfaction towards the BJP-led government’s decision to withdraw the Special Protection Group (SPG) cover from the Gandhi family, stated a report.
