Assam Floods: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Calls Assam CM Sonowal To Review The Situation

Mumbai: In view of the Assam flood, PM Narendra Modi talked to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on phone and reviewed the situation of the ongoing flood effect in the state, where 15 people have been killed and more than 46 lakhs have been affected in floods and landslides.

According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, Sonowal informed the steps taken by the state government to help the affected people in 30 districts of the state and assured all kinds of help.

An official of Assam State Disaster Management Authority said on Monday that 4,175 villages have been affected by 46.28 lakh people due to the flood on Monday afternoon.

The official said that due to the flood, about 90,000 hectares of agricultural land has been affected, some with standing crops on them.

The government has pressed the National Disaster Response Force and the State Disaster Response Force to help the people in different districts because the army has been called in the relief and rescue operations in different parts of the state to assist the civil administration.
