Assam Reports Lowest Coronavirus Cases Since May 23
Mumbai: Assam saw 61 new COVID-19 positive cases on Friday, the lowest since May 23, with a total of 2,15,836 cases and no deaths so far, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
He said that out of 11,757 tests conducted during the day, 61 new cases had a positivity of 0.52 percent.
In the meantime, a returned person from the UK tested COVID-19 positive, and a sample of his swab was sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune to ascertain whether it was a variant of the new variant or a prevalent strain. Of What, the minister said earlier in a press conference.
According to the state health department, 102 people have arrived in the state from Britain during the last 15 days and 72 of them are from Kamrup Metropolitan District.
Meanwhile, 95 recovered patients have been discharged from various hospitals in the state, with a total recovery of 2,11,378 with a recovery rate of 97.93 percent.
The state currently has 3422 active cases, comprising 1.59 percent of the total cases.
Out of a total of 2,15,836 positive cases, 1033 have died and three have gone out of state.
