Mumbai: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Thursday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to auction 41 coal mines for commercial mining will make India Self-Reliant in the energy sector and create more than 2.8 lakh jobs.
“With the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ PM Modi, today flagged off the process to auction 41 coal mines for commercial mining. This historic decision will make India self-reliant in the energy sector by introducing competition and boosting coal production,” Amit Shah said.
Shah said, “The Modi government’s decision will create more than 2.8 lakh jobs, the capital investment of 33,000 crores and annual revenue of Rs. 20,000 crores”.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Modi launched the auction of 41 coal mines for commercial mining and reiterated India’s call to become self-sufficient in energy by reducing imports.
The rollout of commercial coal mining is part of a series of announcements made by the Center. This is expected to promote private sector participation, which, in turn, will lead to higher production and competition.
